The AAU / Travel Basketball Season is upon us! Many New Hanover County youth are preparing for a variety of exciting activities - However many low-and moderate income youth in our community are unable to participate. While their classmates are enjoying basketball camps and other activities, many of our low-and moderate income youth and their families are struggling to make ends meet.
We would like to extend and provide an opportunity for you to help area low-and -moderate income families participate in the upcoming AAU / Travel Basketball Season which not only provides great recreational and educational experience, but also provides year round after school support. Spartans Basketball Association (SBA) has worked diligently to use basketball as means for providing a positive environment in which youth in the greater Wilmington area can grow and develop into outstanding citizens who positively contribute to their community. Here is your chance, when you are most needed, to make a difference - not with just words, but with action.

The Spartans Basketball Association (SBA) is a "Positive Place for Kids." We are dedicated to helping Wilmington's youth not only realize their potential, but also, reach their dreams. With core programs that focus on character & leadership, education & career development, health & life skills, the arts and sport recreation & fitness; the SBA's goal is to develop healthy, caring, productive and successful adults.
Athletics have always been an integral part of our program. Sports allow youth to engage in positive competition where teamwork and sportsmanship are valued. It allows youth to collectively rejoice in their strengths and work on their weaknesses. Most importantly, sports provide a safe environment where they can seek shelter from the various forces that seek to destroy their futures such as gangs, guns and drugs.
