Welcome to Spartans Basketball Association!
We're a non profit organization that was founded in 2008! Over the years our program has grown and continues to evolve over time. Our program offers boys and girls teams, currently consisting of players (ages 8- 18) from New Hanover and surrounding counties in Eastern North Carolina. We participate in in-state and out of state basketball tournaments. At the high school level we offer our players the opportunity to participate in exposure tournaments that have college scout attendance.
We extend an invitation to those interested in:
*your child learning and playing basketball using the fundamentals ~ where skill building is guaranteed and playing time is earned
*Joining our coaching staff
*Other miscellaneous volunteering opportunities
* Sponsorship or Donations
We look forward to embarking on this awesome journey as ONE Spartan Family!
Our Mission

The purposes of the Spartans Basketball Association (SBA) Boys & Girls basketball program are to initiate, stimulate and improve opportunities for amateur basketball competition and athletic excellence. However SBA recognizes that athletics can be a powerful tool for shaping the educational development of young people and for the enhancement of educational opportunities for its participants. SBA will consider the academic well being of its athlete and ensure that participation in AAU activities does not adversely affect their academic progress. SBA will cooperate with the athlete and their parents to strike an appropriate balance among academic, social and athletic activities.

Neither athletes, players, coaches, volunteers nor supporters shall violate the amateur status of competitors. The athlete shall not directly or indirectly receive pay or financial benefits in consideration of or as a reward for participating in athletic competition. SBA shall not provide shoes, articles of clothing or non medical equipment unless like items are provided to all members of the teams.

Participation in High School Basketball is important to the social and athletic development of the SBA athlete. SBA recognizes the influential role played by the athlete's high school coach and team. Accordingly, SBA pledges its support of high school athletics. SBA coaches and school coaches should maintain open communications for the benefit of the athlete. SBA must recognize the importance of the athlete's academic development and promote the proper balance between athletic and academic activities.
